Le Locle gilt zusammen mit La Chaux-de-Fonds als Wiege der Schweizer Uhrenindustrie. Sie blickt auf eine glamouröse Vergangenheit zurück als Sitz von Tissot, Zenith, Ulysse Nardin usw. Sie beschäftigte Tausende von Menschen. Mit ihrem Wegzug in den 70er Jahren hinterliessen diese Firmen eine postindustrielle Stadt, die ihren Bewohner*innen heute nicht mehr viel zu bieten hat. Der kurze Film der Ethnologinnen Bossard, Chibout, Neidhart, Peer gibt Einblick in das heutige Le Locle, erzählt durch Hände, Stimmen und Geschenke.

Le Locle, together with La Chaux-de-Fonds, is considered the cradle of the Swiss watch industry. It looks back on a glamorous past, having been the headquarters of Tissot, Zenith, Ulysse Nardin, etc., and employing thousands of people. When these companies moved away in the 1970s, they left behind a post-industrial town that no longer has much to offer its residents today. This short film by ethnologists Bossard, Chibout, Neidhart, Peer provides an insight into Le Locle today, told through hands, voices, and gifts.
